Talking in Steps Pty Ltd is a paediatric speech pathology clinic.   The owner, Fiona Ann is highly experienced. Fiona has close to 14 years experience as a speech pathologist in all areas of speech pathology and has more than 10 years experience in private work. Fiona is also a qualified primary school teacher which adds another unique service to your child's speech therapy. She has also been the senior supervising speech pathologist for D.A.D.H.C (Grade 3) and as lectured at University.

Our clinic offers the latest equipment to assess and treat your child's difficulties eg the latest computer programs to help your child learn.

You will need an assessment by a speech pathologist if your child is;

• 2 years old is not combining words
• is difficult to understand, cannot say sounds
• has difficulty creating sentences, may have the ideas but not be able to link their ideas
• cannot follow instructions
• struggles at school - they may be able to speak clearly and often many people do not realize that speech pathologists target specific educational difficulties that relate to language and language memory.
• struggling with literacy, learning sounds, writing and in reading. We have the latest visual program to teach this and it is working well with the children we see
• has difficulty eating or drinking - may cough or choke when eating or drinking or may have unusual habits when eating or drinking eg fussy eater
• has oral motor problems such as drooling
• stuttering or gets 'stuck' on their words
• diagnosed or you suspect may have autism or an autism spectrum disorder.

We are approved for FAHCSIA FUNDING.

• DIR floortime trained for delay and autism
• Use visual programs, PECs

Our Team

We have a team of five qualified speech pathologists (all members of Speech Pathology Australia), most with 5-10 years + experience. We have recently created a professional clinic, a  'ONE STOP CLINIC' which includes;

• Occupational Therapy
• Psychology for behaviour intervention and support, assistance with toilet training, transitioning. The psychology team are known as 'Mindcare Psychological Services' which includes a team of highly experienced psychologists. This practice is a bulk bill practice. The team includes clinical and educational psychologists.
• Music Therapy
• Sensory rooms
• We also specialize in Autism and have called this combination of services The Autism Specialist Clinic in conjunction with the Psychology Practice. This service is also useful for children who do not have autism as many children often need to see more than one professional.

We are open Monday through to Saturday - we have Saturday appointments available if required.  Consultations are available at our rooms at All Care Medical Centre, Kurrajong Rd, Horningsea Park or our Wetherill Park Office.
