Welcome to The Heights Preschool. Our centre is fully licenced by The Department of Community Services and provides care for 59 children per day, aged between 2-6 years old.
We are open for a maximum of 52 weeks per week. The licenced hours are from 7am - 6pm. The centre closes for approximately 1 week over Christmas, New Year (fees will not be charged during this period). Centre is closed on Public Holidays.
We offer a preschool program between the hours of 9am to 3.30pm each day.
The centre provides Breakfast- cereal only (before 8am), Morning Tea and Afternoon Tea. Children need to bring along a packed lunch and a drink bottle.
At The Height's Preschool we aim to provide an informal, friendly and loving atmosphere in which the environment is stimulating for each child. The staff aim to build a trusting and secure environment for both the children and parents.
The children are free to choose the areas of interest in which they will participate throughout the day, both individually and as part of a group.
The staff carefully plan and supervise the program. The program aims to develop children's skills in all developmental areas: physical, emotional, social, language and creativity through a variety of activities in both the indoor and outdoor environments.
Daily programming is based on the children's individual needs, interests and strengths which are identified through formal and informal observations ie photos, work samples.Each child's development is also documented and recorded in the form of a portfolio containing photos, work samples, reports and parent feedback.It is believed children learn self discipline by being able to choose their own play activities. Sharing and cooperating with others is encouraged by all staff. At The Height's Preschool, the children are grouped according to their age. The children are grouped as follows:
- 2 - 3 year olds: JOEYS
- 3 - 4 year olds: POSSUMS
- 4 - 5 year olds: WOMBATS
During outdoor play in the morning and afternoon children are grouped together.
